First Vintage

Hi! Welcome to my blog – Big Cab Bigger Hair. Thanks for joining me! My name is Kacey, and I’m excited to share my world of wine with you. Whatever your level of expertise or interests are in wine, I hope this site serves as a conversation starter – one to have with your friends and family, and with me as we connect through these posts, email, and Instagram (if you haven’t already, I’d love for you to follow me on IG for real-time updates and weekly wine inspiration). The more connections we make, the more wine we all get to open together.

Honestly, this site, and the whole idea of wine blogging, really came about as happenstance. I’m originally from Upstate New York and have lived in some beautiful East Coast cities as I obtained my PhD. As luck would have it, I landed in San Francisco and immediately fell in love with all that Northern California has to offer – especially its beautiful and bustling wine valleys. Now, there’s rarely a weekend that I’m not in Wine Country.

I’m not a wine expert, but I am a huge fan of all things wine – the craft, the community, the experiences offered at so many unique properties, and the stories that are born from the pop of a cork. Wine is fun and it’s very social. I’m always seeking out new wines to try and wineries to visit. I relish finding the boutique and hidden gems that lay off the beaten path just as much as I love learning the history of the wineries whose names we all might now a little better.

And that’s what you can expect from this blog. A site dedicated to sharing the wines, experiences, and stories told by so many great people and places as seen through my full eyes and my empty glass. Whether you’re looking for spots to add to your Wine Country travel itinerary, or for a recommendation on what wines to pour for any occasion, I hope I can be a virtual guide in your pursuit of your best wine life. I’ve heard it said that “Anyone who thinks diamonds are a girl’s best friend has never tried wine,” and I couldn’t have said it better myself. So, let’s kick off our shoes and uncork something big and tasty. Cheers to blogging!
